Printed Artefact

A3 sized Accordian Fold Booklet.

Inspired by our p5js sketches, we wanted to convey our approach of layering of images to create new collages into the pamphlet hence we decided to make a small print. When folded in however times the reader decides, it would reveal a new composition, somewhat like what our code is able to do. The booklet features all the images taken for our archive in a grid order.

My code samples from a range of images from our archive and the code randomly extracts a strip from each image. These strips will then be randomised acrossed the sketch, generating an interactive poster with each click of the mouse. Try it for yourself!

3 categories of images were taken ; nature, artificial and urbanised nature. The outcome of the coding holds 3 in total, divided in the categories. When there were more squares coded, the AI would generate a form that viewers couldn't guess what was the original photo, so that they could focus on the texture more. With each click, a new outcome is generate. Try for yourself!

My code manipulates the contents of the image by having AI draw over it, and it is also paired with a slider for customization. The code draws lines and points over an image base from our archive, each line and point are dependent on the general colour of its area. A slider exists for people to change the size and rotation of the lines and points. This allows people to freely customise their own textures with images from our archive, and you can also switch to a different image base by pressing the spacebar.
